Bobby Vanzie is ready to take a potential fight ban on the chin and keep complaining.

Vanzie could face three months out of the ring when he is hauled in front of the British Boxing Board of Control.

The Bradford lightweight is in the dock on August 11 over his comments following his second controversial title defeat against Graham Earl.

The board have already turned down a protest from Vanzie about the result. But the former champion has no intention of letting it lie - and is threatening to take his case to Sports Minister Richard Caborn.

Vanzie was locked in a strategy meeting today with Dennis Hobson, Richard Waterman and Richard Poxon from his Fight Academy promoters as well as long-time manager Jack Doughty.

He said: "We've got the whole team to discuss where we go from here. I'm not surprised that the board rejected our complaint but it was disappointing that with so many points to investigate they found no case at all. But we're determined that won't be the end of it and I'm prepared to go higher than the board if need be.

"The Sports Minister is certainly a possibility and I'd be happy to send him a video of the fight with an accompanying letter. I've lost a lot of money through the results of these title fights and feel it is a case of restraint of trade."

Vanzie was fined for his outburst after losing the British belt to Earl 11 months ago. And he expects the board to throw the book at him for standing by his original words.

He added: "I'm not going to change my stance whatever the board may decide to do to me. I can pre-empt a suspension and fine and expect to be banned for at least three months.

"But that won't stop me fighting this. I'm so angry and nothing is going to change my opinion."

Potential title defences against Mark Winters and Steve Murray went out the window with the one-point loss at York Hall ten days ago. But Vanzie refuses to accept it as a knock-out blow to his professional career. He said: "I proved in that fight that I'm far from a spent force.

"Without ever being at my best, I still did everything and more to win that fight.

"Graham Earl never posed any kind of threat although I couldn't believe the amount of shots he was taking. But that gives me the momentum to keep going.

"They can't ban me forever. I will see out my inevitable suspension and pay the fine but I won't give up fighting what I see as a huge injustice."
