And so yet another target is smashed by the T&A's fundraising readers - this time on behalf of the Toy Library, which we initially told you last November needed £12,000 if it was to stand a chance of surviving to continue its important work of providing the toys and equipment which help to stimulate disabled youngsters.
You hit that figure soon enough, enabling the library to avoid closure in March, so we upped it to £30,000. It didn't take long for the fund to pass that target as well and romp on to within a whisker of the £40,000 mark. This money will ensure that the Toy Library can keep going for longer than its supporters had dared to hope, giving it a chance to use the resources to guarantee its long-term future by seeking other support including match-funding.
But that hasn't been the only call on Bradford people's pockets and purses. There has also been the little matter of saving Bradford City. We report today how pupils at Bradford schools, as well as raising money for the Toy Library, also came up with £5,000 on Claret and Amber Day.
That's a remarkable achievement considering that many of Bradford's schools are in hard-up districts. What superb generosity. What makes this city tick and makes it such a special place is its big heart, which is shared by all generations and every community.
Let's hope now that the success of the Toy Library campaign will encourage pupils and their parents to continue their support for the Save Our City appeal and help to keep Bradford's most senior football club alive.
