Keighley ended up on the wrong end of a tense finale at Bowling Old Lane on Saturday which has dented their promotion bid.
The game heralded the return to first team action of skipper Steve Reape after his battle back from injury. The standard of Keighley's fielding all season has been of the highest order and this game was no exception. In the bowling department, the damage was done by Ross Towler who returned figures of 4-45.
For most of the Keighley innings they looked like favourites to over take the Bowling Old Lane total. The foundations were laid by opener Lee Gordon who hit a fine 51 weathering the probing line of Old Lane's leading wicket taker Mohammed Siddiq who has already claimed over 40 wickets this term.
Steven Nicholls continued his rich vein of form pitching in with 64 backed up in the middle order with 23 from the evergreen Stuart Ratcliffe. The innings came to an end with Keighley requiring two to win off the last ball. Despite a brave attempt from Ross Towler to hit the winning runs Keighley had to settle for a losing draw meaning only one point returned to Keighley.
This weekend sees a chance to bounce back with a home tie against Esholt.
