A lifelong Bantams fan is looking for supporters to join him for a sponsored walk across the sands of Morecambe Bay to raise cash for Bradford City.
The fundraising challenge is the idea of 'exiled' City supporter Daniel Thornton, who lives in Heysham, near Morecambe.
The 26-year-old wants people to join him for the seven-and-a-half mile trek which will be conducted by an official guide who can take walkers safely across the bay.
Mr Thornton left Bradford when he was 12 but still follows the team, travelling across the country to watch them play.
He is hoping to get support from Bantams fans in both Bradford and Morecambe for the event, which he is planning to stage in either September or October.
Mr Thornton, who works at the Ocean's Edge holiday park in Heysham, said: "Morecambe is known as Bradford-by-sea because so many people from the city have come to live here and there is a strong connection between the two places.
"The walk will be led by Cedric Robinson, who is known as the Queen's Guide and can take up to 300 people across the sands."
Mr Robinson will take walkers safely across the bay from Arnside to Kent's Bank. The walk is regularly used as a fundraiser and on Saturday the Shipley Support Group will cross the bay to raise cash for the Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope.
Mr Thornton said it was vital City fans continued to raise cash throughout next season to keep the club in business.
He said: "It is just devastating to see the club in the way it is at the moment but I went to the pro-celebrity match a few weeks ago and I just spent half the match in tears in awe of all the people who turned out for the match and the support the city has given the club."
Anyone who wants to take part in the walk should call Mr Thornton on 07960 190645 or e-mail him at FROGSNO8@aol.com.
Mr Thornton is also hoping to start a Morecambe branch of the Bradford City Suppor-ters Trust to raise more cash for City from Bantams fans living in the resort.
