Thermals specialist Damart is warming to its latest challenge.

The company -- which has its warehouse at Steeton -- is helping to kit out an intrepid explorer bound for Everest Base Camp.

The expedition is the latest in a series of fundraising adventures in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care by Dave Harvey, from Leeds, who has coined in £12,000 over the past six years.

During his Everest trek this month, he will face temperatures of -10C and below.

Dave, who lost both his parents to cancer, said: "I'm really grateful to Damart for its support with this event.

"I am looking forward to this climb and I'm very aware that it is going to be colder than anything I have ever experienced before.

"Knowing that I've got a good base of thermals to take with me will make my journey to the unknown a whole lot easier.

"At least if you're wrapped up warm you can concentrate on the job in hand."

Damart marketing director John Bottomley said: "We have a history of supporting explorers and people working in extreme conditions, from stuntmen to Ranulph Fiennes, and just like them we always like to take on a challenge.

"We know from our experience that Dave will really benefit from our thermals in such a cold environment.

"We wish him the best of luck in this very worthwhile climb."
