Bradford sports stars will be wearing a new fashion accessory to help raise cash for cancer research.
A new red wristband featuring the slogan 'Live Each Day' has been designed for high-flying Bradford Ladies Hockey club.
The fashion items are being sold at £2.50 at time in an effort to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Care charity and support the club who currently top the table of Premier Division Three of the English League.
The club have chosen the charity because members of the squad have lost friends to the disease.
And now Bradford Bulls stars have thrown their weight behind the campaign.
This week the two teams joined forces at the Bulls' Odsal Stadium to promote the new wristband.
The hockey club's head coach Bev Barstow said: "As an all-female hockey team, we were keen to support this incredibly worthy cause and delighted that the Bradford Bulls were able to spare some time to help our appeal.
"We are looking to raise over £500 for the charity and to also boost our own club funds which are required for training and development. "
The hockey club's goalkeeper Beryl Hockey said: "We all wear the bands during games and we try to sell them to our opponents and the umpires.
"Breast Cancer Care is an important charity, everyone is affected by it through a friend or relative they know."
A Bradford Bulls spokesman said: "We are absolutely delighted to be involved with this campaign. The club supports anything which raises awareness and awakens people to the effects cancer can have on people's lives.
"The players are not allowed to wear the bands during games but they are wearing them during the day."
The 'Live Each Day' wristbands are available for a minimum donation of £2.50 from Beryl Hockey at Bradford Ladies Hockey Club. She can be contacted by e-mail at berylhockey@totalise.co.uk
Fifty per cent of the cash raised will go to Breast Cancer Care and the rest will go towards the day to day running of the club.
