A Bradford business which allows drivers to get behind the wheel of luxury cars is set to achieve a turnover of £1 million in its first year
Prestige & Power was set up six months ago up by a group of friends who believe they have found a niche in the market by providing top-of-the-range cars such as Ferraris, Porsche, Bentleys and Mercedes for hire.
Asim Mir, Bobby Hussain and Umran Ajaib are the partners in the business based at the Royds Enterprise Park, Buttershaw. They have built up a fleet of cars worth more than £2million.
And last week they received praise from the Duke of York who toured their premises during a visit to officially open the park.
Mr Mir said: "He was very, very impressed with the cars we had; he particularly liked the Bentley. When we told him how much we invested in our cars, he nearly collapsed. He couldn't believe how well we had done in such a short space of time. He gave us a pat on the back."
Most of Prestige & Power's customers are insurance companies which need to provide replacement cars. Mr Mir said: "We thought there was a hole in the market. Most hire firms offer cars like Vauxhall Astras, Corsas or maybe even Vectras but if you drive a top-mark Mercedes you are not going to be happy if it is replaced by a Vectra. If your insurance promises you like-for-like it has to be a Mercedes."
Prestige & Power also offers private rental of vehicles and chauffeur-driven cars. The firm employs ten people and hires drivers when required.
The business is part of the success story of the Royds Enterprise Park which was built by Royds Community Association in 2003 and now houses 48 businesses. The park was officially opened by Prince Andrew during his visit.
Mr Mir said: "We chose Royds for two reasons, firstly because we are a new business we needed something which was affordable and would be economically viable but the second reason was the security here is so good it helps us sleep at night knowing that if we do need to keep vehicles over night they will still be here in the morning."
