Guiseley 2

Harrogate Town 2 (after extra time)

Guiseley will have to replay their West Riding County Cup semi-final next Tuesday at Harrogate Town after 120 minutes of football failed to separate the two rivals last night.

The UniBond men have surrendered home advantage to the Conference North outfit following the draw at Nethermoor but they will settle for a second bite of the cherry after coming back from 2-0 down. "In the first half we got a bit of a lesson to be honest, but I didn't think we were in awe of them," said Guiseley manager Neil Parsley.

"Then at 2-0 down early in the second half I thought here we go - damage limitation time.

"But we got back into it with a good goal and we gained confidence from that and by the time we got our equaliser it was deserved.

"I thought we had a clear-cut penalty in the first period of extra time when their keeper dragged Mark Stuart down but the officials felt differently.

"We will be quite happy to go again next week, even though we will be away."

Town's Leigh Wood grabbed the only goal of the first half when he converted from a 21st-minute corner. Just six minutes after the interval, Harrogate led 2-0 after Dominic Krief netted.

Minutes later Guiseley were back in the tie when Jeremy Illingworth drilled in a right-foot shot. Pressure mounted on the visitors. A Stuart free-kick was saved and Simon Parke and Richard Chattoe both went close with two efforts each.

The equaliser was coming and it was fitting that Chattoe, who supplied the cross, and Parke, who headed it home, were instrumental in providing it.

The extra 30 minutes brought little goal action and the clubs will have to slug it out again to determine who gets a berth in the final at Woodlesford.
