Operatorsix, Random Hand, Wet Paint and Angel Chain Diaries will compete in a battle of the bands in Keighley.

The Keighley bands are among 14 groups performing during the Victoria Hall event on April 2.

Keighley Musician's Centre is organising the 3-11.30pm contest, along with a 10am-4pm music fair featuring many trade stalls.

Junior bands performing first are White Noise, First Instinct, Rider, Scarlet Thunder, Dead Message, The Axis and Tramps Corner.

The seven senior bands will perform later including This Day's Fury, The Inner Sleeve and Susskind. Admission before 3pm is free, and £3 after.

n Back in the mid-1970s The Vibrators played their first gig supporting The Stranglers and went on to play with The Clash and the Sex Pistols.

Three decades later and The Vibrators are still going strong, playing New Variety Club, Russell Street, Keighley on Thursday.

Expect hits and classics like Automatic Lover, Pogo Dancing, London Girls and Stiff Little Fingers.

n Size 5 continue their comeback campaign with a new set of gigs playing 50s and 60s covers around the local area.

The band, now in its fourth decade, is back to a quintet after taking on well-known Keighley drummer Steve Riley. Gigs: Cullingworth Conservative Club, tomorrow; Vine, Keighley, March 31.

n Serious metal is on offer as The Aftermath make their debut tomorrow supporting Exoteric at Bradford University's Colours Bar.

A spokesman said: "They have come together to create a unique blend of musical fusion. Boozed, bruised and tattooed."

n Pink Floyd tribute band Off The Wall tomorrow plays a rare home-area concert.

The quartet, who have two members from Keighley, will be at St George's Hall, Bradford, from 8pm.

n The Sean Webster Band bring their "blistering guitar and smouldering vocals" to St Anne's Social Centre on April 22.

n Freedom Angels, the latest signing by Keighley music promoter Saby, perform at Leeds club Mission on Wednesday.

The four Southall girls will rap and sing about issues that affect them as British Asian women, from noon to 5pm.

Saby, aka Sabir Hussain, said the quartet are the first ever Asian female MC group, and will be joined by several DJs.
