Cubs Under-14s 10, Littleborough 6 - Despite having the best of the first half the home side went in six points adrift, the visitors from Rochdale took advantage of some weak defending five minutes before the break Hilton racing in near the posts for Knight to convert. Callum Hudson almost levelled latching onto a clever crossfield kick from Kelly on the stroke of half time but he failed to ground the ball.
Littleborough came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and had the Cubs on the back foot untill midway through, when the ever improving Cawood split the defence before offloading to Haythornthwaite for a forty meter chase to the line.Cartledge obliged with the conversion.
Howson continued to probe for an opening for his forwards and good work from Ireland and Young spurred the others to lift their game. With three minutes to go Kelly chipped over the defence with a perfectly weighted kick for Haythonthwaite to chase and score in the corner. Everyone tackled well throughout this game, but top of the pile were Chapman and Carlos with some tremendous hits.
Cubs Under-132 v King Cross
Bright sunshine quickly turned the frosted pitch into a mud bath and handling errors by both sides mounted up as a result.
Strong running and solid tackling by both sides made this a game the forwards had to dominate. Finally the deadlock was broken when Cougar Cubs center Ethan Hawksworth gathered a King Cross grubber kick and from his own 10 meter line sprinted the length of the field, pursued all the way by the visitors, to touch down under the posts. A successful conversion by Chris Burgoyne compleated the scoring as the two teams slogged it out without any further score. Final score 6-0.
Cubs U-9s v Townville Tigers
In a tough encounter against a physical Tigers side the Cubs held them to within two points at the interval. In the second half the Keighley side's fitness began to shine and they ended the game well on top. Man of the match Dan Connell scored four tries, top tackler Kyle Akrigg scored two and Kyle Willmott also scored twice and was awarded the outstanding effort award. Ben Dixon complete the scoring with a good try.
