Keighley Cats 4, Wakefield Panthers 18 - In freezing conditions Keighley Cats faced a mighty Wakefield s ide which included several Great Britain players.
With a full squad Keighley had a chance to topple top of the table team.
Sloppy play by Keighley gave Wakefield an advantage and they pushed their second row over to score four points out wide.
Another early mistake found Wakefield collecting the loose ball from a poor Keighley pass and dive over the line for a converted try.
The second half began with Wakefield holding a 10-0 lead.
Keighley's strong defence and attack kept Wakefield at bay for a good 20 minutes but the attack, led by Angie Pickard, could find no gaps in the Wakefield defence.
Wakefield scored two quick tries in succession with one converted.
The game seemed won but in the last few minutes Keighley's Laura Ackroyd chipped the ball over on the fifth tackle between Wakefield's centre and winger for Amy Taylor to collect and score a good try.
The score did not seem to reflect Keighley's efforts and they should be proud of a great team performance.
Angie Pickard took a well-deserved player of the match award.
Keighley are at home this Sunday to rivals Castleford in their last game of the season, 1.30p.m kick off at marley.
