Embsay 0

Oxenhope 3

Oxenhope Rec took a major step in their bid to claim a second Craven Premier League title in three years when they defeated Embsay.

After claiming their first title in 36 years two years ago the wait may not be as long this time round. Oxenhope are joint top of the league with Gargrave but have three games in hand.

Embsay started on the defensive and Oxenhope were only saved from going a goal down by a goal line clearance from veteran Sam Duffin. In a 20-minute spell towards the end of the first half a goal blitz sealed the points for Oxenhope.

A good move from Dan Moriarty and Nivard Trowers led to a goalmouth scramble and Simon Knaggs slotted the ball home.

Within minutes Embsay failed to clear their lines and Oxenhope went two up when Steve Potts drove the ball home.

Another pinpoint cross from Moriarty led to Knaggs heading home a second for a 3-0 half time lead.

Embsay came out in the second half and played for pride but failed to score a goal due to a great defensive display by the Oxenhope rearguard.

Oxenhope Reserves went down 3-0 to a strong Intake side and now face a battle to stay in Division One.

This week the first team are at home to Grassington and the Reserves don't have a game
