AFTER booking their place in the final of the County Junior Cup Silsden Under-16 returned to league action on Sunday full of confidence and beat Shelf 8-0.

They were just 1-0 up at half time, but turned the screw in the second half withnew striker Nathan Ramsden taking the man of the match award against his old club after scoring a hat-trick. Other good performances came from Thomas Dibb, Luke Scott, Liam Hodgson and Thomas McLean.

Scorers were Nathan Ramsden (3), Thomas McLean (2), Lee McGowan, Adam McLean and Andrew North with a penalty.

This weekend they hope to continue their success when they meet Bolton Woods B in the quarter-finals of the Craven League Cup.

Silsden Under-8s A won their away match at Westwood and with it the Group C title with two matches to spare. In a goalless first half, both sides had their chances but it was early in the second before Pat Lee broke the deadlock for the visitors. The home side then pulled level from a disputed corner and the game was largely contested in midfield with man of the match George Guest to the fore for the visitors until Euan Sessford once again scored the vital goal to bring the well deserved success.

Silsden Under-8s B went 1-0 down to Westwood before Harry McGowan equalised from a Josh Jordan pass. The visitors conceded two further goals in the second half and it could have been more had keeper Sam Warriner not completed a marvellous double save. A great run from defence by Ben Sheppard led to a lofted shot over the home keeper by Elliott Hodgson to pull back to 3-2 but as in previous games Silsden just couldn't force the extra goal. Man of the match was Kalvin Singh who competed well in defence.

Long Lee Under-9s were held to a 1-1 draw by Undercliffe. The first half saw Long Lee have most of the ball and demonstrate some good passing. However, they couldn't find the back of the net and in the second half Undercliffe took a surprise lead with a breakaway goal. Long Lee piled on the pressure and with minutes to go, their very own David Beckham (Declan Burke) scored with a storming free kick. Much deserved Man of the Match was Josh Holt for a commanding display in midfield.

Long Lee Under-8s secured a convincing 5-0 win with a workman like performance against Bradford Tigers with David Spence scoring an early goal. Further goals came from Aaron Davies and Lewis Robinson before half time. Connor Milligan and a second from Spence completed the scoring in the second period.

Oakworth Under-7s B went down 4-2 to Wyke and were behind to a single goal at half time After the break Dan Scott scored a great solo goal but Wyke hit back before Jacob Sewell scored a great long range effort . Jack McGarry pulled off two great saves near the end but could not save his side from defeat. There were excellent performances from Dan Scott, Sam Adams, Will Rankin and Joe Rundle. Louis McGeachie was man of the match.

A good team effort from Keighley Shamrocks Under-12s A saw them go into half time with a three goal advantage over Bolton Woods. The second half saw Bolton Woods score twice goals in quick succession, but Shammies were just too strong and replied with a further four goals to put the match out of reach. Ben Helliwell had a good game in mid-field, as did goalkeeper Sean Bland. Goal scorers were Freddie Bolt (3), Josh Stubbs, Ben Helliwell, and Sean Redman (2).

Steeton Under-14s were beaten 3-0 by Skipton LMS in a highly competitive match which was decided by Skipton's clinical finishing although Steeton had had the majority of goal scoring chances. Man of the match Will Shuttleworth made several superb saves before LMS broke the deadlock through Michael Jeffrey. The second half Steeton had chances in the second half and Shuttleworth again made decisive stops ably assisted by captain Jason Raw and Arron Melvin in defence before Brad Farnell scored the thid Skipton goal.

Silsden Under-9s A beat Sedburgh Crusaders 5-1 thanks to good midfield play from Danny King, Josh Metcalfe and James Hitch who soaked the pressure up and helped set up the three second half goals. David Hunt's clinical finishing saw him score all five goals and take the man of the match trophy.

Silsden Under-9s B were rewarded for their hard work with a 3-1 win over Seburgh. Cameron Latter scored two first half goals after good work from George Holmes in the midfield. Early in the second half Silsden scored a third through Mathew Keighley. Cameron Latter was man of the match

Sutton Under-10s B team entertained Otley in a hard fought match which ended goalless but it was not without action in both penalty areas. Jake Barton, playing his first game in goal, made a good reflex save in the first half to keep the visitors out. The pitch was very heavy although Sam Bailey and Matthew Wiseman worked tirelessly in midfield. Robert Matthews had another excellent game and Alex Keating was named man of the match for his work in defence.

Long Lee Under-7s secured a comfortable victory over Queensbury with Reece Webb scoring a hat-trick. Other goals came from Keanne Shaw (2), Thomas Baker (2), Jake Lee and Ben Stowell. Connor Smith saved a penalty just before the final whistle. There were also good defensive performances from Joshua Kelly and Keiran Baxter.
