FORMER Keighley rugby league player Brian Gaines died last week - he was just 60 years of age.
The amateur player from Leeds signed for Keighley in 1963 and soon became a member of the senior team playing as a second row forward.
He was selected for Great Britain's Under24 team and played in France on his 21st birthday in 1965.
he was a valued and respected member of the Keighley club until hae was transferred to Hunslet in 1968.
As a coach he had spells at York from 1979-81 and at Featherstone Rovers from 1981-83.
"He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him, playes and spectators alike, he will be sadly missed," said Dave Ingham, secretary of Keighley Amateur Rugby League.
