Junior Witter is ready to take the first world title chance that comes along after missing out on a summer shot at Arturo Gatti.

Promoter Mick Hennessy made a £1.5m offer to the WBC champion but Gatti will instead face Floyd Mayweather after their on-off showdown was resurrected for June 25 in Atlantic City.

Witter is still hoping that a WBC panel later this month will rule that he is made the new mandatory challenger to face the winner.

But the Bradford ace could also switch his attentions to WBA king Vivian Harris or rising star Miguel Cotto, who holds the WBO version.

Witter said: "There are other genuine world belts out there as well as the WBC and it's just a case of which one comes up first.

"I'm sure that between Mick and Oscar De La Hoya they will be able to secure a shot at one of these titles. Mick has done wonders for my career so far and I've full confidence in him to deliver once again."

Witter visits a specialist in Oxford on Wednesday for a check on his left hand, which he fractured in last month's win over Lovemore N'Dou in Los Angeles.

"At this stage of my career I can't afford to leave anything to chance," he said. "I'm keeping up my fitness but I won't be throwing a punch for a while yet.

"But hopefully I'm looking to be in the ring again by June and back in America as soon as possible."

Witter is due to make a European defence against Andreas Kotelnik, possibly in Germany, but he is eager to return to the States after his impressive debut. Talks are set to begin over the three-fight deal he has signed with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

He added: "Now the opportunity has finally come up, I'm going to grab it with both hands. There was that little sense of the unknown about fighting in America but now I've been there and done it, heard the boos and heard the cheers.

"I know I can improve and next time the Americans will see even more."
