Marine 0
Guiseley 0
Guiseley stretched their unbeaten run to nine games but it was courtesy of an uninspiring goalless draw at Marine in the UniBond Premier that saw them reach the statistic.
Following their exertions in the midweek West Riding County Cup semi-final against Harrogate Town, which went to extra-time, Neil Parsley's men looked jaded.
But they showed their resilience by gaining another clean sheet.
"It was not too bad a result. The clean sheet was far more satisfying than the performance to be honest," admitted Guiseley boss Parsley.
"We struggled throughout the game, we didn't impose ourselves on it at all.
"It was a difficult surface but that wasn't the reason - there were some tired legs and you just have to cast your mind back to Tuesday.
"I may sound a little down despite a good away point, that is because I'm disappointed after what we have achieved recently. Not with of the effort or commitment of my players, I can't fault that. It was a spirited display but one lacking quality. We didn't create one gilt-edged chance all afternoon. Maybe that has something to do with the expectation levels rising as our run has stretched.
"The players have become victims of their own success in a way. We all knew they were capable of taking all three points against Marine but to maintain the level they have set themselves is very difficult."
A draw was probably not a fair result but it was more of a surprise that the scorers were not troubled, especially as both sides had the ball in the net in the first half. Both efforts were ruled out by the officials.
Guiseley midfielder Jeremy Illingworth thought he had broken the deadlock but the 13th minute proved unlucky for him. He burst through to rifle in a shot from a tight angle but play was called back for a handball.
Marine netted after visiting keeper John Lamb could only parry a direct free-kick. When the ball was tucked away by a forward he was in an offside position.
The home side also hit the post in the first half.
Guiseley had sporadic attacks in the second half but none culminated in attempts on target.
Illingworth hit a right-foot drive over the bar and Kieron O'Brien was also too high with a left-foot attempt.
In the dying minutes Bradford City's on-loan defender Sam Denton planted a header wide from an Illingworth free-kick.
"Next Saturday is another big league game for us and we will be in a similar position because we have it all to do again against Harrogate Town in the County Cup replay tomorrow," added Parsley.
"We have to put things in perspective, we are still in with a chance of the play-offs and in the last four of a big knockout competition. If this draw keeps our momentum going then we will be happy."
