Police are out to educate people living in two Burglary hotspots.
West Yorkshire Police have identified the villages of Baildon and Esholt as the two areas in the Keighley division, which includes Shipley and Bingley, where burglars strike most often.
They will distribute leaflets carrying advice on keeping houses secure to homes in areas where people are most at risk.
Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership has organised the leaflet drop. Neighbourhood forums and Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators will have copies available.
Inspector Nigel Cawthorne, of Keighley police, said: "Burglary rates throughout the Keighley division are not high, including in Esholt and Baildon.
"However, a number of burglaries still occur in this area, particularly those where offenders sneak in to properties through insecure doors.
"This is obviously something we can do something about through educating householders about crime prevention tips and that is why we are mounting this initiative."
Sheila Brett, anti-crime partnership officer for the Shipley area, will also be giving talks at neighbourhood forums over the next few months offering advice on which kind of homes are most attractive to burglars.
She said: "Very simple measures which anyone can take and which cost nothing still make a big difference in keeping homes secure.
"For example, people don't realise that just keeping your front gate closed makes you 80 per cent less likely to be burgled."
The talks will also cover measures such as window and door locks, outside and indoor lighting, timer switches and letter box restrictors. Bradford Council leader Councillor Margaret Eaton, who is also co-chairman of the Safer Communities Partnership, said: "These kinds of initiatives help to target areas where burglary rates are high.
"By reminding people of the simple steps they can take to make their homes safer, we hope that we'll make life much harder for burglars and reduce the crime figures still further."
The talks will take place at:
l Lower Baildon Neighbourhood Forum, Wednesday, March 16 at 7.30pm, St Hugh's Centre on Coach Road, Baildon
l Middle Baildon and Ferniehurst Neighbourhood Forum, on Wednesday, April 6 at 7.30pm, Baildon Community Link, Cliffe Avenue, Baildon
l Esholt Neighbourhood Forum, Wednesday, April 27 at 7.30pm, the Esholt War Memorial Hall, Main Street, Esholt.
