Dean Windass today insisted that
firing City into the play-offs is far more important than personal glory.
Windass has hit 21 goals so far, including 20 of the 50 the club have scored in the league.
With nine games left, he is only three behind his best-ever tally of 24 for Hull 11 years ago.
But the red-hot marksman said: "It's not about me scoring all the goals.
"As I said to Cookie (Andy Cooke) when I volleyed in our equaliser against Peterborough, 'please get me the winner'. We really needed three points on Saturday to keep up the pressure. If anyone else could have scored us a third goal it would have capped off a good day. You've got to beat teams like that if we want to catch the top six."
Windass is the first Bantams striker to reach the 20-goal mark since Lee Mills notched 24 in the Premiership promotion season in 1999. He is only three short of Hull's Stuart Elliott in the race to finish top marksman in League One.
Windass added: "I set myself a target for the first time in my career when I came back to the club. But that was a big mistake. I had a few injuries and ended up joint top-scorer last season with only six.
"Strikers want to get as many as they can but you don't know what's going to happen. Who knows, I might get two goals every time for the next nine games - then I will be patting myself on the back!"
Colin Todd will have another look at French midfielder Amadou Sanokho as well as Blackburn defender Gavin Peers in the reserve game against Tranmere today.
Meanwhile, City have recalled striker Kevin Sanasy after just one game with Leigh RMI. Todd said: "He's had to come back here because of circumstances."
