Queensbury showed no mercy against relegation-haunted Birkenshaw in the Pennine League Premier Division, scoring nine tries in a 48-6 demolition job at Hill Top.

Injury-plagued Birky now look certain to start next season in Division One.

During the heavy defeat, they were always second-best against a lively Bury outfit who have shot up the league table after a shaky start to the season.

The tries came thick and fast from Steve Eyles (2), Trevor Stead (2), Lee Charlton, Liam Holmes, Mark Craft, Luke Cooper and Gareth Hobson.

Stuart Calvert kicked six of the conversions. Birky did have a crumb of comfort when centre Morton Robinson crossed in the final minute and Andy Hirst added the extras.

Clayton's reign at the top came to an end with a 36-4 defeat at Drighlington. The match looked to be in the melting pot when a Clayton touchdown from Johnny Grogan made the score 6-4 in the hosts favour at half-time.

But the Villagers' defence went to pieces on the restart and the Yorkshire Cup holders cut loose.

In Division Two, three tries from Andy Bowness helped Silsden Park Rangers to a 29-26 home win over Queensbury A. John Williams and Chris Fell got the other Silsden tries.

Undercliffe took over at the top of Division Four after Drighlington A failed to raise a side, and second- placed Wyke fell to a heavy 50-14 defeat at York Acorn. The black and whites arrived late due to road-works and never recovered from a 24-10 first-half deficit.

James Barraclough (2) and Mark Frith crossed and Paul Coates kicked a conversion while veteran prop Jason Whomack walked away with the top player award.

Bank Top Harriers made it ten Division Five wins out of ten with a 40-6 success at home to Wetherby.

Bank are playing with great authority and full back Dan Oldfield scored a superb touchdown to add to his man-of-the-match award. Other tries followed from Jason Gelders, Carl Bryan, Scot Haley, Cameron Nelson (2) and Darren Breakwell. Scrum half Bob Brown slotted over six conversions.

West Bowling B were always on the back foot in their 32-14 defeat at Park Amateurs A. A try from stand off James Stewart saw them into the sheds 16-4 behind but they could only muster another touchdown from prop Mike Kite plus three goals from full back Craig Hillam against a lively Park in the second half.

Guiseley Rangers look odds on for the Division Six title following a 16-8 win at The Sportsman Spartans.

Graham Poole and Stuart Patchett reached the whitewash and Scott Wade kept the scoreboard ticking over with two conversions, a penalty and two drop goals.

Wyke A coach Roger Castle came out of retirement to make up the numbers at Keighley Town A and scored a try in the 48-18 defeat. Dean Mitchell, Paul Phillips and Jason Doherty joined him on the scoreboard.
