A 3-2 defeat for Long Lee Under-13s A by a spirited Bingley side has erased any chance of catching the league leaders. Bingley were first to break through after Niall Burke had pulled off an outstanding penalty save for Long Lee. Within minutes Bingley were 2-0 up, eventually Long Lee got into gear although chance after chance only encouraged Bingley to take a commanding 3-0 lead at half time. Just after the break Joshua Huntley gave Long Lee a glimmer of hope, which was given a boost as Matthew Kershaw smashed home another. The Last quarter of the match saw long Lee again squander more chances only to finish 3-2 down at the final whistle. R J Gaughan was magical throughout and picked up a well deserved match point.
Silsden Under-8s A were slow to get into their stride in their final home match of the season against Myrtle Park. They conceded a sloppy goal in the first half but the second period was much better. Euan Sessford refused to give up a long ball into the corner, beating two defenders in the process, and his cross led to a comfortable tap in for Calum Hey and a well earned draw for the home side. Dominic Mortimer was man of the match.
Silsden Under-8s B had their usual hard working display capped off with a 2-0 home win over Myrtle Park. It was well into the second half before the deadlock was finally broken by Elliott Hodgson and Silsden seemed to grow in confidence, Man of the match Josh Jordan and Ben Appleyard were busy throughout with Appleyard poking home the second after a goalmouth scramble.
Silsden Under-10s B took the game to Bingley from the kick off and very nearly took a early lead only for the keeper to pull of a good save. Man of the match Jed Cooper scored to put Silsden firmly in control and in the second half Mark Smith doubled the lead after some fine work from Kyle Todd and Luke Wilson. Jed Cooper finished Bingley off with his second goal of the game.
Keighley Shamrocks Under-10s had two games last weekend. On Saturday they took on Shipley at home. The teams were evenly matched in both halves but Shipley eventually got the upper hand despite a first class display of goalkeeping acrobatics by Jack Emmett. Shipley took the points with a 2- 0 win.
On Sunday the Shammies were away at Shelf who took a commanding lead in the first half scoring four goals. In the second half the Shammies attacked with determination, Ayrton Armstrong, Jamie Greenwood and Dylan Ward all having shots saved. Their determination eventually paid off and Ben Roe scored the first goal, and his second shot over the keeper was helped into the net by Lewis Wrathall. Defender Jake Almond was on good form, but despite this the final score was 5-2 to the home team.
Long Lee Under-11s produced a solid hard working performance to run out comfortable 2-0 winners over Westwood. Playing on a very tricky surface Long Lee took the lead after George Wysocki's shot defied the keeper and crept in for an early lead. Both sides tried to play constructive football and with a little more fortune Long Lee could have extended their lead as the woodwork came to Westwood's rescue on four occasions. In the second half Long Lee got their second goal from a Wysocki penalty and the team deserves credit for their resolute defending as Wysocki picked up the man of the match award with Jack Shimmin also having an outstanding game at the centre of defence.
Silsden Under-16s A raced to an 11-2 victory over Bolton Woods to reach the semi-final of the Craven League Cup when they will meet Ventus United, the other semi-final is between Sandy Lane and Queensbury. Silsden's man of the match was Thomas Dibb who scored a first half hat-trick and played well throughout the game. Other good performances came from Adam McLean, Hamish Munro and Luke Scott. Other scorers were Luke Forrest (2), Hamish Munro (2), Lee McGowan, Ross Croad, Adam McLean and Dean Henderson.
Silsden Under-9s A were away at Horsforth and were under pressure for most of the first half but scored a breakaway first goal after 10 minutes through David Hunt. Horsforth equalised with the last kick of the first half. In the second half Silsden continually attacked but just couldn't score the elusive winning goal. There were good performances from Jack Roberts, James Hitch and Josh Metcalfe. Manager Paul Hunt gave all the team the man of the match for their second half effort.
Silsden Under-9s B beat league favourites Horsforth 3-0 after getting off to a flying start. They scored twice in the opening period through Cameron Latter and Todd Kaine. George Holmes added a third just before half time. In the second priod Horsforth constantly attacked but good performances from George Holmes, Jack Appleyard and Jack Baker kept the score to 3-0.
Oakworth Under-8s A could not reproduce last week's great performance against Thackley. Oaks never got into their stride and two goals from Thackley just before half time and another straight after the re start proved too much for Oaks. They never gave up but a fourth near the end gave Thackley a deserved victory. ullivan Holmes and Ben Reeve starred.
Oakworth Under-8s B kept up their great recent form with a comfortable win over Thackley B. Jonson Butterfield kept up his superb scoring run with the first goal and Jordan O'Dwyer added a second before half time. Chandler Hughes scored an excellent third goal with Butterfield grabbing his second to complete the scoring. Jack Keighley Declan Mclaren and Callum Scott had great games in a superb team performance.
Oakworth Under-9s A won a thrilling contest with Bingley 1-0. Aaron Dickson's probing passes created chances for Josef Drake and Jack Cryer, however it was the midfield partnership of Jack Dowse and Callum Collier who foiled the Bingley attacks with some tenacious tackling. The only goal came half way through the second half when Callum Collier prodded the ball over from close range.
Oakworth Under-9s B edged a 2-1 victory over Bingley after going behind to an early goal. They hit back in the second period with Drew Calver equalising after good work from Joshua Kiteley. Calver added the winner later in the game.
With a reshuffled line-up Silsden Under-17s lacked cohesion and could have no complaints about their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Queensbury. The game contained few chances and Queensbury took theirs well. Dan Hunt volleyed in for Silsden from an Andrew Briggs free kick and hit the post in the second half. Charlie Pociecha battled manfully in defence for Silsden and took the man of the match award. Silsden need to rediscover their spark for their next game.
Long Lee Under-11s girls dew 1-1 with Oakworth with Georgina Kenny scoring for the Oaks in another improving performance.
Long Lee Under-15 girls dew 2-2 with Oakworth with Hayley Turner and Dannielle Cox on target for the Oaks. The Oakworth side is continuing to improve and deserved their share of the points with league leaders Long Lee. Oaks wore their new kit sponsored by General Anaesthetic Services.
Oakworth Under-7s A started slowly and were soon 2-0 behind but fought back to a 5-4 victory over Dudley Hill. Oaks battled hard to get into the match and Lewis Hopkinson scored after good work from Connor McGrann. Hopkinson scored again just before half time as the keeper spilled the ball into his path for a tap in. After the break Dudley hit back before Callum Holmes scored to draw level again. Dudley came back and scored a fourth, but Oaks caught Dudley on the break and Holmes beat the oncoming keeper. Connor McGrann wrapped the game up in the final minute with a excellent run and shot.
Oakworth Under-7s B beat Dudley Hill 3-0 despite the efforts of an in-form Dudley keeper. Eventually Cameron Thynne's low shot flew into the net. After the break Dan Scott scored and Ben Dickinson wrapped up the points
Silsden Under-10s A were on top form as they beat Bingley 2-0. Excellent teamwork saw Ben Geary score in both halves assisted by Joshua McNulty in the first half and Oliver Butterfield in the second. Bingley tried hard but couldn't get past in-form keeper Kurt Barker. Harvey Briggs was named man of the match for his tenacious defending.
