United managed better possession until Royal gained momentum when a Chris Brookes half volley rifled into the far corner of the net just before half-time. Brookes added a second to equalize for Royal when United's defence backed off allowing him time to hit a long range outside left foot swerving shot across the keeper and in off the post.
United again controlled possession and the home side struggled to get out of their own half. Lee Rogers kept Royal in the game with a string of fine saves but couldn't stop United scoring twice more with a Chris Wheater header and Andy Bennett's shot that was almost cleared off the line by Royal man of the match Matthew Dickinson. United's man of the match was Joe Drake.
