Colin Todd is chasing six new players for next term.

And he wants to have them all in place before City kick off pre-season training in July.

The play-off push is still on but Todd is already putting out feelers for next season.

"I've got people in mind," he confirmed. "Although the names could change again if we were to get promoted.

"But I'm looking to get in better players to go with what we have. We do have a lot out of contract, some we will keep and others we won't because of circumstances.

"I'm hoping to bring in six who will be ready for the start of pre-season. I always think it's in the best interests for everybody that new players come in for the first day back because it gives them the time to bond together with the rest of the squad."

With the Coca-Cola League being dragged into line with the rest of Europe, clubs will only be allowed to sign players during the transfer windows. The same goes with loans - a system City have utilised well this season with the likes of Dele Adebola, Neil Roberts, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Paul Tierney.

Todd said: "My approach will still be the same as every year with getting the new players in early. But obviously it does make it a bit more tricky because you can't loan players at any other time.

"You can pick up injuries in pre-season and if you were to get a long-term one just before the league started then it would be very difficult.

"So you've got to have your squad ready in time, not just in terms of the 16 or 17 first-team regulars but making sure there is plenty of cover available. I'm looking at a squad of about 23 players and that will probably include three goalkeepers."

Fans will be hoping Bridge-Wilkinson is on City's hit-list and they may try to tempt back Adebola from Coventry.
