Matlock Town 1
Guiseley 1
An equaliser in time added on from the home side robbed Guiseley of what would have been a precious win as they chase a play-off place in the UniBond Premier Division run-in.
Matlock Town were delighted to get out of jail with their stoppage-time leveller after suffering a home defeat at the weekend.
The result was a cruel blow for a Guiseley side well worth another three points that would have put them outside the top five on goal difference only.
"It was a good point from a tight game and a tough fixture and it keeps our unbeaten run going," said Guiseley manager Neil Parsley.
"It was just a little bit late when they hit back and it's obviously very disappointing when that kind of thing happens. But it isn't doom and gloom. If the roles were reversed we would have been cock-a-hoop at getting a draw.
"Having said that, it was us who were going for the win and to be pegged back with what was virtually the last kick is a blow. It is galling but I think we would have settled for it before the kick-off.
"It was not such a bad journey home, the lads worked hard and we will see what Friday brings when we face the difficult journey to Whitby Town."
It was a brave face that Parsley put on after the final whistle but no braver than the attitude and commitment his players had shown.
They chipped away at the home defence all evening and twice came within a whisker of scoring before they eventually took the lead.
A Mark Stuart free-kick struck the underside of the bar and bounced clear in the 28th minute and a Simon Parke header just shaved the outside of the post on the half-hour.
Then Guiseley skipper Jeremy Illingworth gave his side the lead five minutes from time with a well-judged long-range chip after the home keeper had rushed out to challenge Jonathon Hunt.
It looked all over but a Matlock free- kick in the fourth minute of time added on was converted by a header from James Lukic.
