THE death of a young person is incredibly sad - but imagine dying and no-one caring enough to claim your body.
Six months ago a young woman was found dead in a stream on Penyghent, near Horton-in-Ribblesdale, and despite the best efforts of the local police, her identity remains a mystery.
Appeals have been made both locally and nationally - but we are still no nearer learning the woman's name.
Yes we know that she was aged between 20 and 30, of Oriental extraction, was probably right handed, had almost perfect teeth and had had a measles-type illness when she was young.
We even know that she had had a pregnancy in the past.
But what we don't know is her name - and without that she is just a statistic. She cannot be laid to rest with any degree of dignity.
Someone must know her identity - it is time for them to come forward so the inquiry can be concluded.
As Detective Inspector Peter Martin said back in December: "We owe it to her to find her name and notify her family. She must have a family, friends, perhaps a partner - maybe even a child - and we need to find them."
