YORKSHIRE Schools boxing finalist Liam O'Reilly has clocked up a sparkling double for Keighley Boxing Club.
The 16-year-old conceded both weight and experience to Ray Batty from Boston, Lincolnshire in a contest at Nottingham, but he boxed impeccably to inflict two standing counts and win by a wide margin. Such was the manner of his performance that although there were 15 bouts on the card O'Reilly was voted 'Boxer of the Tournament.'
He followed up with another impressive victory at Hartlepool where he again inflected standing counts on his experience opponent. He eventually beat Jonny Dunn of the home club by a clear margin.
Keighey's Jason Jeffrey, who was also a Yorkshire Schools finalists, produced a superb performance against Luke Brennan of Newcastle, but the Tynesider's physical advantage proved decisive and he edged home in a contest which went down to the wire.
Rising young light-middleweight prospect Richard Aindull also starred on the Nottingham bill and completed a hat-trick of victories since moving to the senior ranks by out-pointing Mustaq Hammed. He had previously clocked up victories at Preston and the recent Bankfield show.
Ashley Roberts, from Silsden, made a fine debut at Preston's Guidl Hall when he outscored Bolton's Jason Knight with some superb left hooks.
Ashley Goodchild also produced a gritty performance on the Preston show but suffered a rare reverse when he lost on points to Chorley's Jason Catteral.
