THE first round of the English Junior Fell Running Championships took play on Pendle Hill last weekend, with over 140 runners taking part.
Keighley & Craven Athletic Club had several athletes taking part with 10-year-old Rosie Hellawell the star of the day.
Rosie won the Under-12 race in 17 minutes 41 seconds, ahead of Warfedale's Megan Searson. "Rosie certainly has a bright future ahead of her after beating several older runners," said organiser Dave Woodhead.
In the boys Under-10s race Harry Sessford, from silsden, finished second with Josh Ferguson third, just three seconds behind, both collected Easter Egg prizes for their efforts. Benjamin Ingleson finished eighth and George Dennis was thirteenth.
Reigning Under-12 English Champion Thomas Sessford, now running int he Under-14 category, finished sixth overall from the 46 runners. It was a solid start to his campaign as he is one of the youngest in the age group.
