Owen Morrison reckons he has played only one good game for City so far.
The 23-year-old admits he has not done himself justice since bursting on to the scene with the winner at Huddersfield in December.
And while he hopes to face former club Stockport at Valley Parade this afternoon, Morrison is not sure if he has done enough to stay in the side.
"I'm still finding my feet but nowhere near what I can do," he said. "The first game was about it - that was me.
"I know that's what I can do but it's been like a yo-yo. It's disappointing but one week I'm playing all right and the next I'm not for whatever reason and I can't find that consistency."
The winger, who has made 11 starts since his arrival in December, believes he is still paying the price for five months of inactivity with Stockport - and is keen to get his own back against the basement side today.
"I'd like to play but it's not up to me. But I will be raring to go to put one over them.
"I'm still not match-fit although I should be getting there. But I'm finding my feet again after not kicking a ball for so long.
"I keep saying that next season is the one when I'll be fully fit and I go out and really do the business."
Places are up for grabs with Nicky Summerbee heading out in the summer. Morrison has started the last two games but was subbed in both.
And he was unhappy with his display at Doncaster on Thursday.
"I know it wasn't good enough. I put in one good ball in the first half but other than that it was quiet and I couldn't get on the ball.
"There are going to be opportunities now and I want to grasp them but it's been difficult."
City will be chasing a double this afternoon against a side with one foot in League Two.
Morrison added: "Stockport know they are down and out but they'll still come to our stadium and want to put one over Bridgey (Marc Bridge-Wilkinson) and me. But it's really just another game in which I want to do well.
"The top six is a fair bit away and really we've got to win 90 per cent of our games now to have any chance at all. But we'll be going out there to put in a good one this afternoon."
