Bradford's showpiece industrial estate could be threatening jobs and discouraging investment in the city. Businessmen on the Euroway estate and nearby residents feel that the planners' dream has turned into a nightmare. The "prestigious" gateway to Bradford on the M606 has become a site for gypsies, tipping, builder's rubble and a multi-coloured swap-shop of drums and chemicals.

Last Saturday was one of those rare but welcome occasions, on which both Bradford teams won and in each case the victory has a special value. Avenue's 3-1 success at Workington's ended a series of six away defeats. City's 3-0 home win against Darlington took them out of last place in the northern section table and they now stand third from bottom although all four of the last teams are on the 26 point mark.
