Angry residents have launched a campaign to block plans to site a mobile phone mast in their village.
Villagers living in Tannerbrook Close, in Clayton, Bradford, said they fear for their health if the application by mobile phone firm Vodafone to set up a Vodafone 3G base station gets the go-ahead.
"There is a school nearby and we are all worried about the implications on our health," said resident Helen Brooke. "We have also been warned that property values could decrease by 25 per cent."
She said residents were getting together to talk about how to stop the mast being put up behind neighbouring Paradise Shopping Centre in Pasture Lane, Clayton.
They have also contacted Bradford West MP Marsha Singh. "We will do everything we can to oppose this eyesore," said Laura Barraclough who is spearheading the campaign.
Mrs Barraclough said they were also angry that only 12 out of the 60 households affected had received the information.
Jane Frapwell, electromagnetic field adviser for Vodafone, said: "The democratic process starts properly when we submit the application, residents will then have the opportunity to make their views clear.
"The current pre-application consultation is an add on to this process, and allows us to gather feedback on our proposal before any formal moves are made."
The application for the ten metre mast will be submitted for consideration to Bradford Council's planning department on Thursday, April 7. Bradford Council said: "Every application to site phone masts is dealt with on its own merit, the plans will be considered in terms of their safety."
