It's now or never for City.
That's the message from Colin Todd, who is urging his side to seize the moment with a win at Chesterfield tomorrow.
City are three points off the final play-off spot with six games to go. And Todd insists it is the perfect time to turn up the heat on their wobbling rivals.
"Each game is becoming bigger and bigger," he said. "We still have an opportunity and I've told the players not to show any nerves.
"If we want to maintain the chance of reaching the play-offs then we cannot slip up tomorrow. And if we can go to Chesterfield and win then it sets up the Hull home game brilliantly."
City looked out of contention a week ago. But the Easter Monday win over Stockport coupled with surprise slip-ups from some of the sides above them has opened the door once again.
And Todd is adamant that his players can still force their way through the pack.
"What makes it interesting is that so many of the teams have got to play each other. It's intriguing how the games have panned out coming to the end of the season.
"Bournemouth and Brentford have still got to come here and there are so many other matches involving teams in the play-off race.
"The confidence hasn't waned at all in the dressing room and everybody knows that there is no better time to go undefeated than now.
"There was more pressure on us in the past. But now we're in the pack, knowing what has to be done and we have the experience that will come to the fore."
Todd gave Danny Forrest a rare start against Stockport but is ready to recall Dean Windass, who came off the bench to net the third goal. But Lee Crooks is struggling to shake off his groin injury and will have a late fitness test.
"Crooksie is touch and go but at the moment it's probably against him," admitted Todd.
Windass said: "The manager wanted to give me a rest on Monday and I probably did need it. But you still want to be out there playing and Chesterfield is a massive game for us.
"There are a lot of inexperienced footballers in this league and maybe a few might be feeling the pinch now because of what's at stake. This is where your professionalism comes into it.
"You've got to treat every game like a cup final and go out there confident you can win. That's the attitude we'll have tomorrow."
