Community speed watch in Steeton and Eastburn recorded 49 offending vehicles.

The checks were carried out by volunteers from the villages on March 13.

There were 29 caught travelling over the 30mph limit on Main Road, in Eastburn, and 20 found exceeding the limit on Station Road, in Steeton.

The culprits are sent a warning letter and they have one more chance before facing proactive policing.

The results were revealed at the latest Craven Police Tasking meeting.

l An increase in anti-social behaviour in Silsden was also reported at the meeting.

PC Craig Stothers said that out of 17 reported incidents in the Craven ward during the past three weeks, 13 were in Silsden.

PC Stothers blamed the rise on the improved weather, lighter nights and the Easter holidays.

High visibility patrols in the problem areas, which include Kirkgate, Silsden Park, Wesley Place, Elliott Street and Malham Court, will be carried out in the next three weeks.

l A problem with under-age drinking behind the Co-op, in Spencer Street, Silsden, was raised.

While it is believed the alcohol is not being bought from the Co-op itself, the trading standards department has been notified as to the possibility of a licensed premises in the area serving under-18s.

l PC Stothers will join Bradford Council's ASBO team for a meeting with managers at the Willows Nursing Home, in Steeton. Reports of four residents, who have mental health problems, drinking and causing a nuisance continue to blight the village's bowling green.
