A charity that organises trips to Disneyland Resort Paris for sick Bradford youngsters is searching for new sponsors to book a long weekend away in the UK.
Bradford-based BATI For Kids wants to run a three-night trip at the start of September to take in the sights of London and Legoland in Windsor but needs the cash to make it possible.
The charity already organises two trips a year to Paris for seriously ill children but now wants to expand its work so it can take on holiday youngsters who are too poorly to travel abroad.
Among those hoping to go on the trip is teenager Kristian Adey, of Wrose. Kristian has Down's Syndrome and a serious congenital heart and lung defect.
Organiser Mary Appleton said: "We know just how much fun going to Disneyland Paris is for youngsters and wanted to share it with some children who can't travel that far. We're hoping local businesses or individuals with the means might be able to step in and help us make that possible."
And she added: "The plan for September is that we'll go and do all the usual touristy stuff, like go on the London Eye and have a cruise on the River Thames - all the things that just aren't easy if you are a family by yourself with a child in a wheelchair.
"Because we go as an organised group we don't do queuing and get fabulous VIP treatment which is a real treat and makes the time away even more special."
The hotel costs and sight-seeing expenses will come to around £2,000 for the whole trip to cover children and one adult from six families.
On top of that, the specially-adapted Jumbulance they will hire costs £750 a day.
Mrs Appleton, a nurse, said: "We normally pay for the poorly child and at least one member of their own family; the other members pay their own way although we can cover a whole family if they are struggling.
"We are only a small charity but every penny we get in from donations and sponsors is greatly appreciated. We try to organise a few of our fundraising events but we'd be happy to hear from anyone who wanted to organise their own and help give our funds a boost."
Anyone who can help should contact Mrs Appleton on (01274) 881705.
l The charity turned to the Telegraph & Argus in November when plans to take five poorly youngsters to Disneyland Paris at Christmas were left in jeopardy after a key sponsor dropped out.
Thanks to readers' generosity, the £2,000 shortfall was raised in just two weeks and the youngsters' trip was saved.
