Brett Ferres is the latest player to pledge his long-term future to the Bulls.

Following on from Paul Deacon and Andy Lynch, the emerging second-rower has signed a new two-year contract.

Ferres is rapidly making his mark for the Super League champions, having worked his way through the Academy ranks at Odsal.

The 20-year-old debuted last season, making nine appearances as a substitute, but has stepped up a level this time around and started the last three matches.

"I'm glad it's all sorted," said the Castleford-based forward.

"I never wanted to play for any other club and it's good to get it out of the way so I can concentrate on playing well for the Bulls.

"It should be a really exciting time here and I'm glad to be a part of it all. I've been pretty lucky, having signed as a 15-year-old on a scholarship. It's been a really good education and now I just want to make sure I stay in the 17."

The Bulls who are shortly expected to announce the capture of Parramatta Eels second row Glenn Morrison for next season were called in for extra training on Sunday after the horrendous Powergen Challenge Cup exit at St Helens.

A dreadful display saw any hopes of reaching Twickenham quickly disappear and Ferres admits it was a massive downer, having no arguments with Steve McNamara's decision to haul them in for overtime.

"We sorted a few things out," he admitted. "We were all gutted and should have done a lot better at Saints. I don't know what caused it. Saints scored early and a few heads went down then but I don't know why.

"We must put that right and believe in ourselves more. We had a decent game at Harle-quins and things were starting to come together but we didn't do ourselves justice in the Cup."

Bradford have the perfect opportunity to set the record straight when they entertain Leeds Rhinos on Friday night.

They defeated their arch-rivals in a dramatic encounter at Headingley six weeks ago when Ferres marked his full debut with a last-second match-winning try.

He said: "I've got good memories from that last Leeds game. Now we just need to do it again.

"We're at home against another quality side but we have to get back to form. We need to kick on. We're in third position now but if we win we'll go second and that will hold us in good stead for the rest of the year."

Matt Cook is also primed to sign a new contract, leaving Joe Vagana, Paul Johnson, Mick Withers and Karl Pryce as the only frontline players still to have their futures sorted.
