A Bradford nightwear and lingerie business, established in the 1930s, is moving all its operations under one roof.

Marsylka, which manufacturers and sells women's nightwear, is moving to new premises on the Euroway Trading Estate in Bradford, bringing together all its warehouse and retail operations in one base.

Currently the firm has two warehouses, in Bradford and Cleckheaton, and a retail outlet, Northern Lingerie, in Roundhay, Leeds.

Founded in 1936, the firm began manufacturing women's lingerie and nightwear and now supplies to shops all over the country.

Today, the goods are manufactured from a factory in Sri Lanka, which employs more than 600 people. The goods are then shipped back to the UK and distributed from Bradford.

Among them are nightgowns, bras, hosiery and underwear. The company will now trade under the title Northern Lingerie.

Chairman Christopher Hainsworth said: "The move will bring the many faces of this business under one roof.

"My father set the company up from our first base on Manchester Road. We used to carry out all our manufacturing over here until we opened our factory in Sri Lanka for cost reasons.

"Hopefully, the move will make the business stronger."

The Leeds base, named Northern Lingerie, was opened in 1985 as a retail outlet and now handles on-line sales for the company.

The bulk of the business, however, still comes from sales to independent retailers and high street stores up and down the country.

Across Bradford, the company employs 50 people.

The business is a family-run operation and Mr Hainsworth's three sons all work for the company.

"We are a family business which has been established a long time," he said.
