One of Bradford's foremost rockers is picking up his bass and heading back onstage after almost two decades out of the spotlight.

In the early 1980s Stuart Morrow, 40, formed Bradford group New Model Army alongside Justin Sullivan and Robb Heaton.

But in 1985 Stuart, of Baildon, chose to leave the band to pursue other projects.

And after years of experimenting with musicians and numerous bands he formed a trio to take him forwards into a new sound.

Into the Souls incorporates bass, guitar and drums, alongside vocals, trumpet and piano.

Although they admit they have their work cut out for them Stuart said the formation with Ricky Howard and Ivan Markovic was the correct recipe for success.

"Since I left New Model Army I have been in several bands and I have been writing my own material for a few years," he said.

Stuart played with Ricky in a band called Loud before he met singer Ivan it was then, he said, he found the sound' for his music.

"We get on really, really well and have been writing furiously," Stuart said.

"At the moment it seems an unbreakable triangle, which is a fairly rare thing these days."

After just 11 months of playing together the band have released their first mini-album on music label Discovery, titled Introduction.

They have also been invited to play a special set at a music event at the Priestley theatre in Little Germany later this year.

At the moment Stuart, who has a seven-year-old son, has been paying the bills by working as a builder.

But his dream is to be able to give up work and devote his working life to playing in the band.

"It is by no means a hobby, it's having a go at building a career as a musician," he said.

And he said the band were devoted to their city, and hoped Bradford would support them in achieving success.

"We have got such a lot of creative talent here in Bradford," he said.

New Model Army's Justin is still with the band who are currently on tour across Europe.

The band will release their next single, BD3, in May.
