Councillors have given the go-ahead for an Asda store to be built in Bradford which is set to create up to 350 jobs.

The supermarket giant applied to Bradford Council for permission to build a store off Cemetery Road, which will include petrol station and highway improvements worth nearly £750,000.

Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the development at a meeting this afternoon.

During the meeting the panel heard from ward Councillor Joanne Dodds about representations for and against the proposal by children from nearby Lidget Green Primary School .

After the hearing an Asda spokesman said: “We are delighted our plans have been approved by local councillors today.

“Our plans will create up to 350 jobs and Asda will set up a Local Employment Partnership to target local job seekers.”
