It was a good job the rain stopped when more than 130 staff and students at Shipley College embarked on a one-mile run in aid of Sport Relief.
Not least because of some revealing fancy dress costumes on show such as that donned by brave sports student Danny Stirk. He amused fellow runners by dressing in a ‘mankini’ – the one-piece, exotic swimwear made famous by Sacha Baron Cohen’s film character Borat – and clinched the afternoon’s Best Costume prize.
Runner-up Hollie Rowley wore a full bear outfit and third place Ryan Lee was kitted out as a double of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
Other runners took the event, starting in Roberts Park, Saltaire, more seriously by competing for the quickest time, a feat achieved by student Karl Bennett.
The run was organised by sports tutor Neil Fitzjohn and students also helped marshal the route. Participants have raised £300 so far, but the final total is expected to be higher.
