People of all ages packed into Addingham Memorial Hall to mark the official opening of the village’s new playground.
Addingham Gala Queen Nell Carter was invited to open the new playground, near the hall, although wet weather meant the celebrations were indoors.
The playground was completed several weeks ago, and Addingham Civic Society chairman John Walmsley said the play equipment was already being enjoyed by lots of local children.
The celebration featured an Easter Bonnet parade, a decorated eggs competition, other activities and stalls.
Addingham Civic Society raised £60,000 for the playground, securing a £45,000 grant from landfill tax redistribution body WREN. The society stepped in after old play equipment was deemed unfit for use when it was taken up to make way for building work on the Addingham Medical Centre.
Fundraising may begin again soon, as the society says it would like to provide further equipment.
* The annual Addingham spring-clean will take place this Saturday. Anyone wanting to join in is asked to meet at 9am at the Memorial Hall, Main Street.
