A pair of students have set off on the trip of a lifetime as part of a 1,800-mile charity rally in two old bangers.

Gareth Parfitt, 20, of Baildon and his friend, Jordan Paver of Rawdon, are part of the Not Top Gear team heading to Gibraltar.

The friends held a leaving party on Monday at The Old Tramshed in Saltaire before setting off in two old bangers – a 20-year-old Mercedes estate and a Volkswagen Golf.

They will be travelling across France and Spain and to Gibraltar before flying home.

Baildon businessman David Price, 40 and James Waggott, 34, from Leeds, will pick up the bangers in Gibraltar before completing the second leg of the rally to Morocco.

When they get there, they will give boxes of stationary, collected by Gareth and Jordan from schools in Bradford, to children at schools in Morocco.

Money raised will go to the National Ataxia Foundation, a charity which helps people with the degenerative genetic condition. To sponsor the team visit justgiving.com/ nottopgear.
