An inquest is due to open today after the body of a Bradford man who went missing for a week was discovered near the River Wharfe.

Nicholas Unsworth, 47, of Station Road, Burley-in-Wharfedale, was found beside the river by a member of the public.

Coroner Roger Whittaker is expected to open and adjourn the inquest at Bradford Coroner’s Court.

Mr Unsworth was last seen in Heaton, Bradford, and he had been missing since March 12.

His body was found at 6.45pm on Friday, March 19.

A spokesman for Airedale and North Bradford Police said: “Police attended a location on the River Wharfe at Burley-in-Wharfedale after a member of the public reported finding a man’s body.”

He said the cause of his death is yet to be determined, but did not believed there were any suspicious circumstances.
