Police are appealing for witnesses to a motorway crash which killed a 37-year-old man from Pudsey.
The accident involving a HGV and Ford van occurred just after 2pm yesterday, between junctions 34 and 33 on the M62’s westbound carriageway.
The Scania HGV, which had a laden trailer, entered the carriageway from the hard shoulder after being stationary.
The red and cream-coloured Iveco Ford insulated van was travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred.
The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the HGV was not injured.
Three men were arrested at the scene but were later released without charge.
The carriageway was closed for several hours and re-opened just before 9.45pm last night.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has information, who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on (01924) 293047.
