All Saints’ Church at Ilkley is giving sunflower seeds to primary school children and offering a prize to the pupil who grows the tallest plant.
The give-away is part of the church’s Love Ilkley campaign.
The Reverend Lee Townend, of All Saints, said: “This sunflower-growing competition is a lovely way to get children into gardening.
"It’s also got an incentive of a prize for the tallest which should give an extra reason for planting the seeds.”
Children will be asked to submit photos of the sunflowers to the church by Monday, September 20.
