A Shipley charity is temporarily off the road after its van had to be scrapped.
Until Jubilee Outreach Yorkshire (JOY) gets a replacement vehicle, there can be no collections of donated goods and medical supplies stock cannot be delivered to its shops in Shipley and Bingley.
JOY founder Dr Kathy Tedd said the van, which had lasted 14 years, had gone over “one too many speed bumps” and wrecked the chassis.
“We’re hoping some wonderful person out there will be able to help us get a replacement. A sprinter van with plenty of headroom would be ideal. A van is vital to keep us going.”
The charity’s work is flourishing. Recently it sent £1,500 to Haiti and its work in Romania is growing.
“We now have five little houses for orphans, the day care hospital saw 1,500 patients last year treating 500 people free and the home-care nursing scheme is expanding.
