After considerable stage success, Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution was filmed by Billy Wilder in 1957, starring Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton.
Its latest manifestation is by The Agatha Christie Theatre Company and stars Honeysuckle Weeks (Foyle’s War), Dennis Lill (The Royal), Ben Nealon (Soldier, Soldier) and Robert Duncan (Drop The Dead Donkey). Peter Byrne, Jennifer Wilson and Mark Wynter complete the cast.
Emily French, an elderly woman, leaves her considerable estate to Leonard, a charming young man. After she is found dead, he naturally becomes the prime suspect.
His plea hinges on the testimony of his wife, until the sudden appearance of a mysterious young woman bearing an unexpected clue. Everyone seems to be harbouring a dark secret in this gripping courtroom drama.
