The manager of the Good Neighbour Project in Holme Wood, Bradford, has retired.
Elaine O’Connell and her colleagues have helped many of the estate’s elderly residents to live independently in their homes through the services they provide.
Activities such as bingo, quizzes and line-dancing that they run alongside the community cafe have given many somewhere to socialise instead of living in isolation.
Elaine became involved in the project through worshipping at St Christopher’s Church, where she has been a member of the congregation for 30 years.
She said she was sad to leave the project but was looking forward to reading “and doing all those things you put off” during her retirement.
