A piece of Guiseley’s history will soon be returning to the town.

The clock from the former Crompton Parkinson factory, which was saved from the demolition of the factory buildings in 2006, is being restored. Once completed it will be installed at Nether-field Road Car Park.

The clock’s copper casing is to be the centrepiece of a new landmark for the town, with construction well under way on a new clock tower. The scheme is to be funded by Leeds City Council’s Town and District Centre Regeneration Fund.

Ward councillor Graham Latty (Con), who has been overseeing the project, said: “I am very pleased to have been involved in this project and proud of the fact that we have been able to save a piece of Guiseley’s industrial history.

“I am delighted that building work is taking place and that the copper casing is in place and awaiting the return of its clock.”
