Police have warned under-18s in Ilkley they could be prosecuted under new legislation if they are caught drinking in a public place.
New powers are being handed to the police which could result in under-18s being taken to court if they are found drinking more than three times in 12 months.
Inspector Sue Sanderson, of Ilkley Police, said: “Although we have had the power to seize alcohol from under 18s, we haven’t been able to prosecute.
"It’s to tackle anti-social behaviour as a result of drinking in public places and about trying to deal with young people who are caught on numerous occasions."
