Bradford’s City of Film launch weekend runs from next Thursday to Sunday, with a whole host of activities taking place around the city.

Strategies For Survival is two days of events and masterclasses, including pop-up cinema in Centenary Square from 11am to 5pm.

The Kirkgate Centre offers the chance to recreate your own Oscars moment, and there’s a Roald Dahl Family Funday on Saturday in the Central Library.

Check the website at Bradford-city-of-film.com for more details of the launch and the rest of the festival.

The bad weather earlier this year meant the Sandow Clowns touring show at Ian Clough Hall, Baildon, had to be cancelled. But they’re back next Saturday at 2pm.

Great for younger members of the family, their show offers good, clean fun with stilt walking, juggling, balancing and comedy music car, with plenty of audience participation.

The event is to support CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood), and tickets cost £3.

If you can remember the words to Sixties hits Bobby’s Girl, In Dreams and Runaround Sue, then Dreamboats and Petticoats is the musical for you.

Inspired by the best-selling album, it will transport you back to the time of Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury and Chuck Berry.

It’s on at the Grand Theatre & Opera House, Leeds, from Monday to Saturday.

Visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate, with your mum on Mothering Sunday tomorrow to enjoy breathtaking seasonal displays of spring bulbs, including thousands of crocuses, snowdrops and daffodils.

While you are there, you could treat her to lunch.

Alternatively, take your mum for a special day at Nostell Priory near Wakefield tomorrow, when head gardener Paul Dibb will take you on a garden tour followed by a two-course lunch in the tearoom. Call (01924) 863892 for booking details.

The Hey Presto Magic Show is at Bingley Arts Centre next Saturday, starting at 7.30pm.

Bradford Magic Circle presents its annual show, featuring Patricia Duncan, Jonty the Magician, Stevie B, Junior World Magic Champion Stephen Williams, Michael Jordan and High Jinx.

Be astounded and astonished with magical sleights and illusions, jugglers and the Spotlight Dancers.
