A 78-year-old grandfather is set to walk 127 miles from Liverpool to Leeds in a bid to raise money for the Lord Mayor of Bradford’s Appeal.
Jeffrey Long, of Bingley, will follow the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath.
The former paratrooper will set off from Liverpool on Friday, March 26 and is due to arrive in Leeds on Sunday, April 4. He will stop off in Bingley so the Lord mayor, Councillor John Godward, can wish him well.
Mr Long said: “The weather at this time of year could be lovely or it could be absolutely terrible so I am prepared for everything.”
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal is this year raising money for the Little Heroes Cancer Trust and Bradford and District Senior Power, of which Mr Long is a member.
