A City of Film website has been created to provide a “one-stop shop” for information on film-related events, activities and opportunities in Bradford.

The website, bradford-city-of-film.com, includes details of film screenings, training courses, locations and places of interest for visitors.

It also includes information on the city’s film heritage and why Bradford was chosen to become the world’s first City of Film.

Peg Alexander, City of Film director, said: “It explains what City of Film is all about and the organisations involved.

“You can find out about where to get funding to make films and where to borrow equipment. We have lots of plans for the website and want to make it as interactive as possible.

“People will be able to send in films they have made to be put up on the site, and there will be competitions and reviews. In time we hope all cinema listings will be put up there.”

City of Film events manager Nicky Corp said: “This is the definite one-stop shop to find out what’s going on, when and where. It’s a great place to find out how you can benefit from City of Film.”

The website also includes details of City of Film launch events, which start with a civic reception on Thursday, March 18, to coincide with the opening of Bradford International Film Festival.

Other events to celebrate the launch will be held throughout the first weekend of the festival and include screening opportunities at Bradford Playhouse, a ‘pop-up’ free cinema in an empty shop in Centenary Square and a family fun day at the National Media Museum.

Participation packs containing suggestions of how to mark the launch at home can be downloaded from the website.

Mrs Alexander said: “The idea with the packs is they have some quick ideas of what you can do over the launch weekend to celebrate Bradford’s film status. We want as much film activity to happen as possible so it could be from watching something at the film festival to having some friends round to watch a film at home.”
